Under a new name and with a new organisation, the Ster ZLM Tour will continue as ZLM Tour in 2019. From Wednesday 19 June to Sunday 23 June 2019, the public can once again enjoy this international cycling summit. Many World Tour teams, especially the sprinter teams, use the ZLM Tour as preparation for the Tour de France. For other teams it is also excellent preparation for the championships.
Main sponsor ZLM Insurance and Libéma Profcycling are joining forces to organise the cycling event.
UCI Cycling calendar
The ZLM Tour will maintain its UCI 2.1 level status. The fixed place on the cycling calendar, two weeks before the Tour de France, has again been guaranteed.
The Ster ZLM Tour has a storied history, with winners such as Cavendish, Greipel and Gilbert, and it is a household name in Netherlands. ZLM Verzekeringen has been active in cycling for many years, which has made a positive contribution to the insurer’s brand awareness. The new organisation has the ambitious goal of earning the ZLM Tour an even larger space on the map in the coming years as the ideal prep race for sprinter teams in the Tour de France.
The ZLM Tour is a Benelux-focused competition that will run through the provinces of Zeeland and Brabant. After all, for ZLM Verzekeringen, that’s the heart of their customer base. This year, the ZLM Tour will start in Zeeland with a prologue, followed one day later by a flat stage. On Friday and Saturday, the tour will visit Limburg for a partially hilly course, but also these stages will certainly offer opportunities for the sprinters, as well. On Sunday, the final day, the finish line will be drawn in Brabant.
